A shot of a gateway laptop at CES

Thread Starter
I am a XPS2 owner and love it. This laptop I saw at ces tho was really badass. It was a Gateway of all things and was running the 7800GTX on Centrino Duo. Performance was very good

What a crappy place for the touchpad, why is it so left oriented?

The mouse is fine, the full keyboard is throwing you off, take a closer look.

Yeah but the guy's palm is practically resting on the touchpad when in WASD config...not a pretty picture unless the touchpad can be easily disabled.

The touchpad is centered under the keyboard just like our Dell's but the addition of the numeric keypad is throwing it off.
So.... the question is... if you had your choice would you keep the touchpad centered below the space bar or should it be centered to the screen?

As Psycho says, the touchpad is centered on the keyboard just like our laptops, but the addition of the numpad moves everything to the left.
This is very bad in my opinion, when I write feel comfortable when my head is centered on the screen. By using this layout my head and shoulder must be offset, look out chiropractor here I come. This cant be good for your spine...

The touchpad on my old zd7000 was off-center too, and it had the extended keyboard. My only fear is if that touchpad isn't recessed, your (or maybe just my) palm brushes it, and kicks the cursor across the screen. That was definitely one of those things I didn't like about the zd7000.

I dig the extended keyboard though. I don't know why ... I never used it. But it was nice when it was needed. I'd go for another one, if I was in the market.
