International Power

I'll be flying to Perth, Australia for a few months this February. I'll obviously take my wonderful notebook with me, but I'm just curious as to where you would obtain the cable necessary to plug it in there. I'm pretty sure it's 220v, and the Dell adapter says it's cool with everything from 100-240v at 50-60hz. The power plug itself is very odd though, and doesn't look like I can just go out and buy it at a local "radio shack" there. I'm talking about the wire that you can unplug from the power supply.

You don't need the whole cable, you can use a universal adapter.

I don't know how the plugs are in Australia, adapters in links are for Europe (220V).

Good call. Don't know why I didn't realize that to begin with. I guess I wanted it to be Dell approved. Then again, I don't even have my warranty any more......

Yeah, a simple plug adapter will do, does not need to be anything more fancy than that for most places in the world...

You need an adapter for Australia? That's pretty lame. I'm in China on 220v and I can just plug it straight into outlets and power bars.

You need an adapter, because Australia (like most other countries ) has different pin configurations for their power outlets.

China has some funky plugs, but most of the outlets are able to take a wide variety of them, including the standard 3 prong from North America.
