Looking at the Z60M, but a few questions

So I had a powerbook 1.67 GHZ, 1 gig of RAM and was VERY close to going back to a PC, but after they announced the MacBookPro, I preordered one, but because of the universal software issues and native software support, I am thinking I made the wrong decision. I then started looking again at the alienware 5500, the hypersonic MX6 (which is a prebuilt but pretty amazing specs for the price) and since my dad LOVES his t42, but I like widescreen a Z60m. I was looking at the 1699.99 version with the 129mb graphics card. 2529EFU I do a LOT of photoshop, Nikon capture program, emailing and surfing of course, play some games, etc. Any help you guys can offer would be greatly appreciated.

I a thinking about ditchin the MBP, for the Z60mm alienware (but due to there lousy raplately, probably not this one, and a hypersonic MX6. I don't game a lot, but am curious, if the screen on the Z60m good enough for everyday photoshop work? I have always been told that IBMs are great business computers but not so much for graphic intensive programs, is this still true?

(sorry, it must have been late, or I was half asleep)

the x600 is ok for gfx\games, dont expect to run with 16aa but you can play all the new ones nicely.

screen looks nice bright and nice.

two problems
1. they take a month to ship.
2. they didnt figure out thier customs papers yet

so if you have 40 days to wait a z60m is really nice, id wait a month for the dual, or even better id wait for the memrom a year from now.

why does it take a month to ship, they said it ships the day you place the order. What if I order from pcconnecion or somewhere else?

Thanks for the response, also, is it a glossy covered screen or just normal screen?

if you order from other places it shoud be fine, the z60m is not glossy.

it take them a month since they simply suck,.
(they have too many to build since they start marketing them agressively)

A buddy of mine got is Z60m on Tuesday. He ordered it New Year's Day...so the delivery time seems to be getting better. He got his for light gaming, watching movies, etc. It's handles WoW just fine...better than his old desktop. I don't think he's tried a FPS on it yet.

The screen has a mat finish, rather than glossy. Don't know if that matters with PhotoShop. You might want to make sure you get the higher res, 300 nit screen. Of course the x600 card.

Lenovo deal: $100 rebate (http://www-131.ibm.com/webapp/wcs/st...0001&langId=-1)

the 300 doesnt come with the higher res, only with the lower res.

still the 200nis looks pretty nice with the high res.
