Converting my internal hard drive into an external hard drive

Hi,

I am a total noob at this sort of thing. I use to have a Sager 9860 but it died and have taken out the internal hard drive. I need files and things on that hard drive and thought it would be useful to have it as an external hard drive. Whats the best way to go about this.

I have done some research but to be honest not to sure if im looking at the right type of thing. As i said, i am a complete and utter novice at this (and everything else related to the insides of a computer).

I have been looking at this type of thing: http://www.dealtime.com/xPC-Adaptec_..._ENCLOSURE_KIT

Would this work as an external, i think it would but i wanted to ask you guys to make sure.

Cheers...

Yeah it will work, but just make sure your hard drive is a "2.5"(some notebooks use 1.8 and a few uses desktop hard drives)

I did that with an old 20gig. Works well enough. One thing to look for, though: get an enclosure with a power source. Mine runs the HD off USB power, and some USB ports can't supply enough current. (My 17" Powerbook can't use it at all....)

check out some enclosures at newegg.com , you'll find better prices, and super fast shipping.
