What speaker system do you all have on your laptops? I was looking at several, but dont even know what to look for. I want something that will be good for my future apartment when I throw parties. Something with some so and so bass. Thanx for any info.

I purchased this Nook Color specifically because I was taking a very long trip to China and wanted to be able to read without carrying a ton of books. I also liked that it had email capability...

This is an awesome mouse with an excellent grip for a mid sized to large size hand. Right-handed, comfortable, trendy, upscale, red, responsive, functional, task oriented. Overall A+++

I haven't gotten to try them out on my laptop yet because they're stuck in customs at the moment but the 5500s in my sig are awesome. Great for watching movies, listening to music and gaming. Think you can get em for about $200 now days. Hands down the best computer speakers I've ever owned.

Logitech Z-680
Awesome 5.1 setup. 188W RMS (which means peak power handling is about 40% higher) subwoof so there's plenty of bass...and then 4 62W RMS satellite channels with a 69W RMS center channel...
Best part of the deal is the control unit has a digital optical input so I just use my laptop's SPDIF port and a Toslink optical cable and voila...I can play games and watch movies on the speaker system in true 5.1 surround w/ only 1 cable between the speaker system and the laptop. To watch movies in digital surround, your decoder software (ie WinDVD) has to be capable of sending an AC-3 signal to your sound chip (which means platinum edition of WinDVD).
Music sounds great and w/ 10GB of mp3's on the laptop, there's plenty to listen to.
I think the Z 680 system is no longer available for retail, but check out the latest Logitech systems or you can pick a used one off E-Bay for about $150. More expensive than the $20-$50 speakers, but if this is going to be your primary speaker system in the apartment, I highly recommend you spend a little extra. Still cheaper (but not as versatile as) than a $500 Yamaha receiver and $2000 worth of JBL speakers. And if you're in an apartment, you'll probably never reach volumes that would need the $2500 setup.
