Strickyl gaming ATM the fx57 is, but the 4800 is going to outlast in terms of expandability and future gaming and computing. Specially when more games s uuport dual core. Right ow their just isnt any games that really support it, couple have patches out for dual core but still not a big impact.

so in the long run duel will be better for gaming?

Dual core is definitely more futureproof. More and more game will start supporting dual core in the future, which will give the x2's the advantage. The new FX-60 is dual core and does a good job of beating or keeping up with the FX-57 in a most of tests. I went from a single core @ 2.8 to a dual core @ 2.75. The dual core beats my old single core by over 1000 3DMarks in 05 all else the same.

If I buy the fx-60, is that an easy upgrade to do myself?I would buy the Athlon™ 64 3200+ at the cheapist price and then put in the fx-60

Don't know for sure but read that sager was testing the FX-60 and had some problems in the laptops (it would likely void the warrenty if you did that yourself). I would wait till they, or alienware get the bugs fixed before spending that much on a cpu. My guess is all that it would need would be a bios update, but I'm just guessing. Dual core I think is the way to go though. Good luck and dam that would be one mean laptop.

The FX line has been problematic in the Clevo platform, but so far they've gotten them to work fine after lots of testing and bios work.

I'd wait until AW, or at least Clevo releases the FX-60 and make sure you have the right bios and motherboard revision before purchasing.

also i'd rather get the FX-57 because it has a 2.8Ghz processor and you can overclock it to 4.0 if you actually try. and AMD is mainly good for Frame Rates. AMD + Kickass Processor(FX57) = One Hell of a PC!!!

yes it's safe...just buy a big heatsink or get liquid cooling.

Not sure overclocking an FX-57 in a laptop is such a good idea. In a desktop with adequate cooling yes, but in a laptop you're just asking for a meltdown.
