connecting to tv

Thread Starter
I have a sony vaio z1 notebook and am trying to connect it to my tv. My TV has component and s-video inputs and the laptop has only a vga output. Is there anyway to convert from vga to s-video? Or can I buy a pc card with a s-video output?

I connect my Inspiron 700m to a Hauppauge WinTV-PVR USB2 card and am able to connect it to the s-video and RCA inputs on my tv.

Then your PVR must be somewhat different than mine. Mine only has inputs, to send video into my laptop. As to converting VGA to video, NewEgg, among others have the black box that takes. Search around, you'll probably find a more affordable one.
