here is an exact quote "Kahney said an Apple source informed him that other versions of the MacBook Pro are in the works and that "he probably wouldn't order one of the new MacBook Pros."

Here's a little more to that quote:

This point would seem to lend credibility to Wired News reporter Leander Kahney's recent suggestion that some new products were removed from Tuesday's keynote as a result of a shortage of the Core Duo processors. Without mentioning specifics, Kahney said an Apple source informed him that other versions of the MacBook Pro are in the works and that "he probably wouldn't order one of the new MacBook Pros."

Intel has been manufacturing the Core Duo processor for months, sources report, and at 65nm more processors can be manufactured on each wafer. Production is expected to ramp quickly, but along with Apple, every PC maker is trying to get its hands on Core Duo processors for laptops. The higher performance Core Duo does not appear to be facing quite the same demand.

"They can't get enough Core Duo (chips)'...He also said that if he were me, he probably wouldn't order one of the new MacBook Pros. I asked if there would be MacBook replacements for the 17-inch and 12-inch PowerBooks, but he said, 'Oh, it's much cooler than that. Much cooler."

same as all the other rumors. but apple did say they are transitioning their entire line to intel this year, so it wouldn't surprise me to see new releases in relatively short intervals compared to what we've seen in the past. then again, apple is known for doing 1-2 releases a year to create more drama around the releases. but this last fall might be an indicator of how they will do it, having releases like a damn drumbeat!
