Sorry I get carried away sometimes...
Time for my medication
Yes, just a little
carried away m'friend. I just came back from a trip to Sapporo checkin' out the best toys I could find. Lookin' at laptop screens, I'd have to say the Sony Xbrite beats the Toshiba. Side to side, the Sony is just a LOT brighter. Toshiba isn't bad, but it doesn't beat the Sony. Sony side to side with the Fujitsu... edge goes to Fujitsu. Someone had the resolution cranked down to 1024 on the Sony and it looked like CRAP and I couldn't believe how badly the Fujitsu beat it. However, after fiddling w/ settings, I realized the difference. Upon comparison of equal settings, the Fuji came out ahead (but not by much). Sharp had some nice screens on their laptops, but nothing that made fireworks shoot out my butt. Hitachi and NEC... eh, whatever.
However, there's an NEC monitor that I've seen that blows everything
else away that I've ever seen. I'll have to go back and see if I can get some specs on that bad boy because it's simply gorgeous. So the "NEC not even close" phrase, you'll have to be careful of. For use with Laptops only. Use that with a regular display and someone might have to slap ya
Oh, and just for giggles, I played around w/ a new 3-D Sharp lappie. It was running at about $3400. I wasn't too horribly impressed. There were shining moments when it made me smile and think that HEY! This is pretty neat!, but those moments didn't last long enough for my wallet to feel the effect. Kind of a worthless bragging right type thing. Meh.
Went to a shop that had been advertising Clevos online and figured I'd make a killing with comparisons (and maybe even pick up a unit if it made me slobber enough), but they were shut down. Crap. I almost
had the ability to do a comparo between a Fujitsu, Sony & Clevo. Blown out o' the water, tho'. Didn't happen. Ah, well. Them's the breaks.
Oh, and since I'm ranting incoherently about screens, I'll say that the 15.4" widescreens are about out of my interest range. Watching them in action... blah. I'll stick w/ a 16.1" UXGA. My interest in the 8790 officially fizzled today. Might still hang out for one but... blah. I'm feeling blah about it.
And Dell. Good god. If the 8600 Inspiron screens are the same as the 1100 screens, there's no use even bothering w/ those. I couldn't believe how bad the 1100 screen was. It was a little worse than my VAIO's screen (FX-120, not exactly creme o' the crop).
What else? As long as I'm blithering incoherently, I might as well keep going 'til someone shuts me up... Oh, I found root beer and Sony Plaza! w00t! And Doritos! Life is good. If I could've picked up a Clevo today, it would've been an almost perfect day.
