Included Remote

Can Sager release some GIRDER or other remote control software scripts so that the stupid thing will work with more than the crappy included TV software?

I hate TV. I don't even own one.

But I do like remotes!

Yeah i know the tv remote is gay as hell, you cant control anything exept the tv and turn the computer off, whoopde doooooo! i wish i could actually control the mouse that is says i can on the instructions! or even a DVD?
TV TUNER REMOTE IS WORTHLESS

I think BT8x8 remote drivers are still in development you can try the aver helper dlls. You can also try bremote http://www.borgtech.org/btv/bremote.php

I am interested to find out if it is at all possible to control what it says that it can with the remote. There is very little info on it. I have been to the Aver site and could find nothing on it. It is bunk!! There has to be something, or some way!!!

I saw in another thread somewhere that they were able to use the pointer feature. I would like to know how... There are know instructions on this thing to speak of.

Are there other drivers for this thing? There has to be a set up for it, I would think...

From what I can remember:

The remote is part of the TV tuner card package which is an Avermedia TVCapture 98 card using the BT878 driver chip (at least on the 8886) your may be different. It's been awhile since I used the TV tuner software that shipped with the laptop but if you have that installed and QuickTV running in the system tray you should be able to use the cursor keys on the remote.

I'll try experimenting with the drivers from AverMedia (http://drivers.aver.com/software/308software/Winxp.zip) are the latest drivers I downloaded today.

Also, dScaler or WinDVD Recorder are both better then the included TV software.

beakmyn for some reason the rRemote software doesnt work on the 4780.
what model card and chipset is in the 4780?
do you mean the tv tuner card? I have no idea! Also i tried to install the 878 driver you listed there and it doesnt install, it just says "CoInitialize Fail".
I am trying to figure out the same thing. I want to get some decent quality recording done with my 4780 (the aver studio program is crap for recording). Sager and/or PCTorque really needs to release more info about the capture device, and maybe we can get some real capturing going.

(I think the drivers themselves are what's causing the poor quality, but I may be wrong)

If you install Dscaler it will autodetect your card and chipset. Try that and let me know what it says then we can work from there, Since it appears the chipsets are different.

Only info I see is under sources (which it reads as AVerTV USB 2.0 Video Capture). Also, you have to manually select the channel using AVerTV Studio II. I knew I wasn't going to get the most amazing capture card, but it's disappointing to see how poorly this one is (yet again, I think there is a need for improved drivers, but maybe they are already a 3rd party set out there I don't know about - btw I tried the drivers at this site - http://btwincap.sourceforge.net - and they didn't work).

Here's your drivers from Aver
http://drivers.aver.com/software/usb...v2.21winxp.exe

and your manual
http://drivers.aver.com/software/avertv-usb.pdf

some good info here
http://www.tv-cards.com

The BTwin are not compatible different chipset but can't figure out which one.
I have QuickTV installed, but I cannot control the cursor with the remote... I'm getting the Aver drivers linked here, at 8k/s, I'll try those out
post #14 of 49
Ive done the same da** thing and it doesnt work, if you do get it to work then I would like to know how.
I believe those drivers/info is only for the external model, if you get them working though, please let us know.
alright, new drivers insalled, no difference, couldn't run the 'application' setup.exe file, it errors out with "CoInitialize Fail!"
The setup.exe was for what program?
the driver link to aver.com, winxp.exe

AverMedia E820-C TV-Tuner Module is the module used, i got that from sagernotebook.com

the remote control programs i found on tv-cards.com all are looking for the chipset on a PCI card, does ours not go through USB? (i'm assuming so cuz we need usb 2.0 drivers installed for it to opperate properly), that might be a problem

Something also must be hardwired with that port, because when the computer is completely off, we can turn ours on with the remote (even when I have QuickTV uninstalled completely)
Yes it's hardwired. Not having th 4760 model makes it difficult to diagnose and get the right drivers for you guys. I was hoping the chipset would at least be the same. I'm kinda at a loss now.
