Included Remote - Page 3

When I got and set up my 4780 2 days ago I couldn't get anything on the remote to work except the power button to turn off/on the computer. If you're like me, you like to keep the taskbar and startup folder clean, so I deleted the always-running "quick tv" button. Well, after browsing the avertv cd, I reinstalled the averstudio program (setup.exe in the "ap" folder) and the "quick tv" button reappeared next to the clock and the remote works. When I close quick tv, the remote doesn't work.

So, quick tv must be running (apparently) for the remote to work. However, it still doesn't move the pointer when the tv is off. Also, in tv setup, AUX is what controls TV Audio - not the default "line-in" as with ATI TV on the All-In-Wonder desktop cards.

wait... dexter so when you have the TV program running, you can control the mouse?

When I ran the TV program, all I could do was change the channel and the volume, turn TV off or the computer off (last two I can do always with quicktv running)

No dexter cant get his to move the mouse,

Now for an update......Another email to avermedia i should be awaiting a responce by tomorrow, i found the model # tuner used in the 4780's and am going to sweet talk them into having them give me the driver for it, then I will host it and post it.

thats awesome man, can't wait to get this thing working properly.

You really shouldn't have to 'sweet talk' anyone though, they are promoting something that doesn't even come close to doing what they say it will... and that's lame. ( and possibly illegal ) :P

Okay well bad news: "Hello, Sager is reponsable for all support for their products. Please contact them with any needs for your TV card."
That was the responce from Avermedia and sager admits the cursor and other potential features do not work so therefore we are screwed and their is no way to get this to work.

damnit....

it just doesn't make sense... seeing as how it works in the 8xxx series

Just out of curiocity, what was that model # of the tuner?

here's some food for thought... I was looking for a way to get num-lock to turn on automatically for my logon scren (anyone? anyone?) and I found something interesting. Go to start-help and support and type "num lock" into the search. Hit the "turn on togglekeys" task it finds and then on the "accessibility options" link that comes up. Now look at the "mouse" tab on mouse keys and on the "general" tab the serial keys stuff. I've been playing with this - check it out if you've got a minute.

edit - btw - I haven't gotten the remote to work when the tv isn't on, but this seems like the place to start.

I see that there is new drivers posted at the sager support page. They are dated Feb. 19, has anyone tried them yet. Maybe it is fixed.
