Since no one responded, I'll have to reword this. I'm looking for the best 19 or 20' lcd monitor that is best for gaming. I have a budget of $300-$400. Any suggestions?

Take a look at this article:

http://www.tomshardware.com/2005/11/04/do_the_new_19/

This has a European slant, but the tests seem pretty well done.

Note that the article doesn't even come close to testing all possible candidates.

It's okay but not exactly what I'm looking for. Could you guys take a look at www.jr.com and tell me which is the best monitor between 19-20', $300-400?

Well...

At J&R's, the closest panel I saw to the top-rated VP191B was

-The VP171S.

Spec-wise it looks pretty good, though I'd personally go for a 19" model, even if it cost more. Computer parts come and go; odds are, you'll be reusing whatever monitor you buy for years.

The 19-inchers meeting your requirements will probably go over your budget...

Also...

A 19" viewsonic with good specs.

Editorial: Specs are nice and all, and a necessary thing to look for, but I personally would never buy a monitor simply by its specs. Better would be to look for and find quality reviews of the type/size/cost of monitors you're looking for, and best of all would be to personally test the montors (in your home environment--the video sources and lighting at Best Buy, PCR, etc. will distort what you see).

/Editorial.

Now, have you considered a Dell Ultrasharp? Very good quality monitors for good prices, especially with an electronic coupon. Highly regarded too.

thnx for the links. I'm looking at the reviews for them on Cnet. I did look into a Dell Ultrasharp, but Dell is the reason why I'm looking for a new monitor. See, I was suppose to get a good and working laptop from them, but I got a piece of junk. So it costed $2500 and now they want a restocking fee of 15%. So I'm buying a gaming rig and only have around $350 after I buy my new computer, so I'm gunna use it to buy a new monitor (I'm using a 15' NEC monitor now, and I hate it)

Tell me if you'd go out and buy it

Love this one so much I'm ordering a 2nd one tomorrow so I can try out the duel screen configuration:

Also check this one out:

Samsung 930BF -- fast pixel response time (claimed)

I've usually found Samsung LCDs very pleasing to the eye (never owned one long enough to tell how good they are at games though).

Are you really going to buy another monitor just to see how it is?

Well kinda...since I haven't used duel monitors yet. Read some about it. I code a lot, and read having duel screens is good for that sort of thing. Code in one, and browser/documentation in the other.

Thnx for the replies. My budget is now $500, since Dell told me I didn't have to pay a restocking fee. So if u guys can find a better one for $500, please let me know. Basically, I want to find an even better screen than the Viewsonic VX924

Try these out--

I personally like firingsquad--they seem competent and have a gamer's take on things...
