Hi!
I've been following this forum for about a month now and I finally joined cuz my new lappy is worthy of it! I just got my very first AW in time for college! (just a few years ago, i was drooling over the AW website dreaming of someday owning something of the like). All my friends are dying to see wut i described as "the biggest freakin thing ive ever seen!"The Area-51 m7700 is by far the greatest thing ive ever owned and i cudnt be happier!

I ordered my lappy about a week before Xmas last year and it came on Jan. 9. The order was delayed due to the holidays but i was sent what was described on this forum as a "rare alienware keychain (that you cannot buy otherwise)" The lappy is actually well worth the wait...and for those of you thinking you missed out on not owning a keychain, its just a metal oval with an AW STICKER on it with ALIENWARE imprinted on the bak. (made in china...)

Ive read on a few threads that ppl recieved their AW with dead pixels, but mine came with none Im still in the process of installing some programs and i havent had a single problem. The process is gonna take a while tho cuz i got an ungodly amount of skool work on my desk

Im also still trying to figure out some of the functions of my lappy and ide really appreciate it if you m7700 veterans could help me out. I'll post my questions some other time (skool work argh!)

As for those of you considering to purchase an Area-51 m7700, I cannot emphasize how impressive it really is. Awesome power with a beautiful chassis. (The alien eyes on the back light up bright blue!! BLUE!!)

O HAIL ME MIGHTY LAPPY!!

Again, really glad to join this forum

On your desktop right click and go to properties. Then go to the screen saver tab. Now click on the power button. You should now have an option to select for turn off monitor. Set it to how long you want the monitor to stay on if nothing is touched (like moving the mouse or a key stroke). Hope thats what you are looking for.

man the alienguise schemes rock! I used the ALX scheme and my already fancy lappy is a whole lot fancier. The skins are truly unique....another reason to buy an AW! (i think u can download them from online actually, u just need windows xp)

i notice alienguise messed with my menus in fs2004. took me a while to figure that one out. just out of pure luck too.

Blizzard! You sound new to the "Super Notebook" computer group.

Words of advice to enjoy your laptop longer:

1. Keep the machine lifted to allow plenty of air under the machine.
2. Keep the fans under the machine clear of dust and stuff. Regular cleaning IS REQUIRED for this machine. This machine runs hot, so you gonna have to look after it.

There are many other words of advice about owning a machine like this.......

Welcome and enjoy!

I am a VERY satisfied 7700 owner and mine is running strong after 1 year....

Welcome to the 7700 family!

I've had mine for a couple months and it has been a dream!

Later,
pat!

BTW: Consider the LapCool 4 as far as a cooling unit/stand...very nice!
