-------------------------81.97-------------------------

This driver set is version 81.97-v2.25. The tweaks are unchanged from the 81.98 driver that first used them, as I think I have the tweaks nailed down pretty well for the time being (something WILL come around eventually through my scouring of the net that will change them). These are also the FIRST Dell drivers that I've even deemed XTreme-G MobileForce worthy, which is noteworthy in itself. From what I've seen, these drivers perform better than the 82.65 driver (which is being released alongside this 81.97 driver) if you have a Dell laptop (but perhaps not much, or perhaps worse, depending on what you play, etc.). Go try them out, and have fun!

This driver set is version 82.65-v2.25. The tweaks are unchanged from the 81.98 driver that first used them, as I think I have the tweaks nailed down pretty well for the time being (something WILL come around eventually through my scouring of the net that will change them). These seem to be pretty solid drivers, and personally, I can't choose between it and the 81.97 driver posted by Dell. Some of you may have better experience with the 81.97 driver, and others with 82.65. It really depends on what you play. Have fun!

Any laptop with an NVIDIA GeForce Go video card. From GeForce2 Go on up through the GeForce Go 7800 GTX and the GeForce Go 7800 (found in new i9400 and E1705).

This question may have already been answered in another thread, but search is not working ATM....when i manually overclock in the Laptop display window, the clocks do not stay, despite my hitting 'apply'. It will always default back to stock clocks. Is this a driver issue? I never had this problem with coolbits.

You can't overclock 6800U and 7800 with coolbits. Only BIOS flash will do.

I'm confused. Which one is the latest? 81.98 or 81.97?

For driver date: 82.12 > 82.65 > 81.98 > 81.97.
Being the latest doesn't necessarly mean it is the best. You have to try them to find the best driver for your system.
Performance wise it doesn't change much for these drivers, just pick one, if you have any problems with it uninstall and install a new one.

technically though, if im using 81.98 v2.25a, what are the differences to 82.65... should i just go with the dell drivers?

the 81.97 are dell drivers? Why are they posted on tweaksrus? Because they're tweaked dell drivers? So roughly, which is for what games, between the 82.65 and 81.97 (dell)? thx.

Non official drivers don't have a changelog from NVIDIA so you can't really tell what changed until people try it.
81.97 are from Dell but they are not for notebooks, it is for desktop systems with 7800 GTX, so i don't think it matters that they are from Dell since they are not aimed for notebooks obviously. Performance and quality for drivers change from system to system and from application to application, it is hard to say anything.

Are 82.12 seriously newer than 82.65?

Yup. 82.12 are dated 12/19/05, 82.65 are 12/14/05 and there is even a 83.10 that is older than both which is dated 12/08/05.

if i play bf2, cod2, nfsmw, rome : total war, FEAR, and San Andreas which drivers do i need?
same question here ^^.

Plus, my systems asks me tlike 5 times if im sure i want to install the 81.97 (!) drivers over the 81.98 (!) drivers... which makes sense. So the .98 drivers were from tweaksrus, same as the 82.65 ones, but the .97 ones are just tweaked, but originally from dell?

I'm going to try the .97's over the 98's tonight. Remember to do a full driver clean before you install ;P

why, what happens if not, cuz that's what i did, heres my story:

Installed, ask me lotsa questions about do i wanna install older driver etc etc. me: yes. Thing crashes. i restart, res at like 600*400, cant login. Push lotsa buttons, enter in guest thing. mini res, change it to 1200/780, my picture is COMPLETELY distorted, dont do anthing, res doesnt change back. 2 restarts, no change. i just guess rightclick, push down once, enter, tab, right lots of times, tab, tab, left lots of times, enter: Im lucky enough to have it changed back to 600*400. *NEVER* again, almost had a heart attack there.

(Just bushed enter lots of times to log in)

At the very least, if you're installing an older driver version vs. what's installed already, uninstall them from Add/Remove programs first. The DriverCleaner thing can be debated, but from what I've read, most people who've installed newer versions of drivers over older versions don't have too many problems. Installing older versions over newer... I'd be a bit more careful, I guess.
