Protecting the Wristrest on my 9300

I have had my 9300 since april and the left side of the rest has started to brush off. I want to apply something on top to stop it from wearing down . I was thinking of buying some adhesive paper and just to stick it on the laptop; Anyone have a better solution for this? Are there any special coatings or do you know what kind of adhesive i need to use in order not to damage the plastic?

I know there's a thread around here somewhere that has some great ideas in it. I think the most interesting one was to use screen protectors for PDA's (?).

I went the low-end route: I found an old flannel scarf at Goodwill and snipped two squares off it. The color is awful, but hey: It won't scratch the paint, and it won't leave a residue. Who cares if it's olive green?

Use self-laminating sheets. They're made for going over pictures and the like, so I can't imagine they'd hurt the plastic. They're cheap, easy to cut to size, and not bad to look at. I've had some on my laptop for about 3 months, no problems thus far.

I'd imagine anything that wont leave a residue, or will be easy to clean off will be fine, probably just depends on what feel you want.

I.e. flannel may feel better to have on there. Clear contact or self laminating sheets will look good, but may feel a bit sticky after long use? Heck i could even see paper being fine, but you may not like the feel. personally its only and issue for me when i play games, when i type my wrist sits up.

Or just use a external keyboard. That is what I'm doing now. I only had my laptop for a few weeks so it still looks brand new. I'm going to get some clear film and measure and cut it to fit the palm rest perfectly later on.

Yeah, the same thing happened to me. I scratched the left speakers a bit, kind of noticeable but looked at my right spekaers and it was fine. I think it came from wearing a metallic wrist watch. It wasn't very comfortable typing with a watch, so after a few weeks I took it off but I didn't know the scratches until 3 months in, in which a period of time a number of my friends have used. Above the speakers and to the left and right of the touchpad look brand new though. Maybe it's because I lick my finger with spit and rub at any black thing I see on the palm rest.

I use external keyboard too but sometimes I will still use it as a laptop (cuz that is what it is). Bad part is I don't think i can find self laminating sheets where I live . Anyone know what adhesive to use so not to damage the paint? I was thinking of simply sticking a sheet of glossy paper or smth. cheap and confortable.
