Desktop still on when not plugged in to power supply?

Just like the title says, I unplugged my desktop and it was still running. It ran for about 1 minute. I've never seen this happen before, and I don't even think it's possible. Maybe there was still enough energy to keep it running for a while. What do u think happened? (I'm afraid to turn it on cuz i dunno if its gunna blow up!!) O and this is an Emachines pc, and it's not very powerful.

...Why did you unplug it before shutting down completely in the first place?

My rabbit went behind my table and she has a habbit of trying to bite through my wires. She broke 3 Xbox controllers and tried to bite off my dog's tail. If she tried to chew through my pc wires, she could have gotten shocked to death.

Edit: O yea I have a rabbit

That would have been one cooked rabbit! No idea why your computer was still running afterward...I've never unplugged a running desktop before. Maybe it has some sort of precautionary measure in case this exact event might occur...But honestly I have no clue...

Anyone want to buy a computer that is possessed by the devil? But could a possessed computer have any link to why a lot of family members have died lately?

( The story about my dog and my rabbit would have been longer, but I didn't feel like talking about my dog. He had to be put down in December, about 2 weeks before Christmas. His name was Lance. He was a Golden Retriever, 11 years old, and lost a back leg in June do to cancer. What me and my family didn't know is that he had a brain tumor which very slowly started to make him go crazy. He looked and coughed like he thought there was something stuck in his throat, but there was nothing wrong with is lungs or throat. A day before we put him down, he had a very bad seizure that damaged his brain and made him forget how to walk or even use his legs. A vet told us that it could be a once in a liftime thing and that it is possible he won't have another seizure for the rest of his life. They were wrong. The day after his seizure he tried to get up and it triggered another seizure. An hour later, we carried him to the vet and he was put down. The vet told us in June that if he didn't have his leg cut off, it would be a matter of days until he died. I am glad that I had him for those 5 extra months. He was a dog who tried to play with cats, and deer, and sometimes birds. He got along with everyone except for people he felt are very dangerous. I don't know why I stopped to type all this out, but I'm glad I did.)

Did you perhaps unplug the surge/ups from the wall, or did you unplug the power cable from the surge protector? Just thinking perhaps your surge protector has a small ups in it incase of power outage.

Because it makes you feel better to tell the story. You do feel better, don't you?

*back to topic*

An e-machine with a built in 1 min UPS - cool feature!

Turn it back on and try unplugging again after about 1 hour and see if it does it again.

What power supply are you using?

Can you repeat this phenomenon?

The power supply must have unusually large power capacitors. These are the caps that are probably powering the PC even after mains has been disconnected.

This is a common phenomenon with audio equipment. Some tube amps are too dangerous to open even after days of being disconnected because the capacitors inside still hold VAST amounts of charge...enough to kill a few people

This happens on my Dell Diemension 2300 Desktop PC. I once turned off the sockets for about a second then turned on the socket and it was still on! (I enabled this in the BIOS!)

Oh yeah and when I turn off at the sockett the monitor stays on for about 10 seconds after switch-off!
