Ok,
I downloaded and ran this 3dmark2005. I was busy running spybot and loading some pages on the internet. Anyways, it took a long time to run these tests and they tended to hover at 0 to 2 frames per second. My system has an ATI Radeon Xpress 200m (128mb shared memory). I was expecting for the socre to be bad but not a 300!

Time to get a dual core CPU laptop! :-) Spybot really kills CPU so no wonder for such a low score. Other intensive apps include MP3 or DVD compressing.

yeah I wanted dual core but it wasn't out yet and I needed it now. this is a $700 stop gap system. I hope to sell for $500 later this year and buy a new super system sometime in 2006.

1. dont run programs in the background when testing,
2. make sure your [laptop] is plugged in, sometimes laptops are set to a power saving mode when on battery.
3. check to make sure your GPU is set to optimal performance.
4. make sure your CPU isnt throttled back by a power saving program(ex. acer epowermanagement on my laptop)
then run again and see if it doesnt increase.

I noticed your sig those 3d mark scores appear to be all over the place depending on which version you are using. were you joking about the 330 score? I was expecting a score of about 2000. I have no clue though as I never have run this app.

Run 3DMark 2005 without anything else going on the in background? (I thought you were joking about running spybot and 3dmark at the same time)

You'll get higher scores with older versions of 3DMark. In 3DMark05 you won't get anywhere near 2000 - I'd say ~500 would be a good score for your system. The Acer 4400 with a 64 MB Radeon X700 only gets about 1100 in 3DMark05, and your Xpress 200m is a semi-integrated solution with not nearly as much power.

How much system memory do you have? Are you running into swap space?

But don't expect sky high scores, even 6600GT systems with 3.6/3500+ system and 1GB RAM typically score about 4000 or so.

to the OP, you dont have a dedicated video card, you're not going to hit anywhere near 2000. 300 is about on par, dont expect above 500. You laptop isnt made for games at all.

Integrated 82852 chipset...I knew it would play BF1942 and Rise of Nations fine, which were the only two games I played when I got it. I don't remember if I ever tried 3DMark, either because it wouldn't run or it wouldn't be worth it.

I got it for the size, not the power. Unfortunately, because of that I'm now in the market for a new one - turns out I value power more than I thought.
