I wonder how fast it will be?

AMD Turion processor blows!!!

19" screen! I thought the 17" screen is big, That's not going to be a laptop anymore.. The vanilla 7800 SLI is probably not much to write home about.
I suspect that the market for it will be a hell of lot smaller than the machine itself! I can't see laptops that size catching on. Admittedly, if you only rarely want to move it the size doesn't matter too much but for most people that'll be a non-starter. Can you imagine the size of the carry bag?

Cheers,

19inch laptop with 7800 sli . don’t know about cpu ? Just fold it up and take it with you in back pack . no wires no monitor to lug around . i will try it. Maybe wait till it support dual core and will it support raid 0 ? That sounds like a portable gaming workstation computer to me .LOL

14lbs oh my! nearly twice what my beast of a 9300 weighs. also if notebook sli is anything like desktop benchmarks. wouldn't a 7800gtx be about on par with 2 7800 vanillas?
19" LCD on it with still only a 1680 x 1050 resolution?? Since I've been using 1920x1200 on my 9300 17" WUXGA I wouldn't want to go backwards..
Its heavy and low res (compared to what we have now). On the plus side, if they can do SLI, you know Dell will have SLI in their next Gen XPS model as well (at a price of course) and you just knew that 19 inch models were coming.

That's what I was thinking too.

Uhhh turion cpu blows? Blows what? I wish my 9300 had a turion. The A64 line of cpu's is the best there is PERIOD! I would rather have a turion that might use a little more power when on battery than I would this Pentium M. The turion is better in all respects. Gaming wise they are about the same but encoding and decoding the turion is faster. The onboard memory controller provides less latency and less bottleneck. The list can go on and on.

Its also 64-bit so its ready for Vista 64 where our P-M's aren't, as well as using DDR instead of DDR2 (usually cheaper, although DDR2 prices have been insanely low lately, negating this advantage).

If I had the choice of a 17" WUXGA screen with a high-end video card...it would have been an AMD 64-bit processor of some sort. Unfortunately, the X2 4400+ in the Sager 9750 runs about $3400 (its also a heavier notebook with all the cooling but weight isn't a problem for my needs). Not worth the extra $1400.

Yep, AMD all the way. However, if I had to choose an Intel, the Pentium-M is as good as it comes.

My 9300 rocks. . No need for a better PC for about a year or two. I'll upgrade to 7800 gtx next summer...or wait for 8800 Go and get vista.

Why is this in Dell XPS 2/ 9300?

Anyway, looks great! Go UK!

That's just the glue (sniff, sniff) talking bro. The Pentium M is by far the best notebook cpu out right now. And don't even start talking about 64bit, when you can show me one worthwhile app within the next 6 months that requires it I'll start listening.

Update : http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=22987

I thought I'd post this link so that you all would'nt think I was the one sniffing glue. Bottom line is that it's a cheaper cpu but not a faster one. Just so you all know, I'm a huge AMD fan for desktop systems. Perhaps, and I hope, they will come out with something that truly does compete with the Pentium M. Wilted.

i really dont care either way as far as teh current crop of cpus goes, but id definetly take a taylor over a yonah.

as for this laptop, not impressed at all. the resolution is low and it does weight twice as much as our notebooks. over 14 pounds. the SLI 7800's really isnt worth it because the 7800gtx is as good or better.

the advantages of this are the tv tuner and hte hdtv ports. but seriously, there is more room leftover on the palmrest with this one than there is on the 9300, and it has a FULL keyboard.
No dual core? No RAID? Not to mention a measley WSXGA resolution. Bleh. Talk to me when a real notebook comes along.

I think the screen isnt really the thing i was pointing out. I wanted to point out that SLI laptops will be out very soon. which means 10 000 points + on 3d Marks imgaine the gaming possiblities. There are better screens out there and there will be prob an opition to upgrade.
if we need a 19" lcd just to fit two 7800gos in there, we will need at least a 20", 16 pound, laptop to fit two 7800gtx's. no thanks.
