Best optimcal mouse? - Page 2

My Logitech has a small USB receiver, about 2.5" long and not much bigger than the USB plug. I hate having a mouse cord attached and having a corded receiver didn't make much sense either.

Most of the time I am close to the system, but just don't like the cord on the desk.

Also, when you're holding the 18 month old trying to get him to sleep, you can have him on one shoulder and use the mouse against your leg in the other hand

Do NOT under any circumstance buy a Microsoft Bluetooth Mouse. The MS BT Driver integrates itself with your OS, and to use any other BT device, like, say, and onboard BT card, you must REFORMAT YOUR HARD DRIVE.

That, my friends is EVIL. Evil enough that I would reccomend boycotting ALL Microsoft Mouse products. But YMMV.

(Off to reformat his System Partition one last time, now that his Logitech MX900 is finally here...)

I own a logitech MX900 bluetooth mouse. Love it.
It is a better alternative than the MX700 because you can use the base station for recharging the batteries, and use your internal bluetooth, or like me, use a usb bluetooth adapter; mine being a d-link one.

You can use normal AA batteries in the MX900 too - that in combination with another bluetooth adapter means you don't need to worry about the base station/recharger that comes with it. Hoorah.

It is very comfy, has no tracking problems - very accurate.

I had a bad experience with a microsoft wireless optical mouse. The problem wasn't the mouse it was the battery in it. I was just using it one day when it popped up in my hand about 2 feet. I then looked at it and 5 minutes later realized the battery exploded and was oozing battery acid inside the mouse. When it was all cleaned out I put new batteries in and it didn't work. So I now assume that it fried the chip inside of the mouse.

Does it matter if your USB ports are in the back of your laptop
for the connection of the wireless to work as good?
Will the mouse be able to read that way? Thanks!
