What would be worse would be if you were surfing the net "naked"...(You know... porn) without any clothes on and the thing exploded.... and it burned your "private" parts....

Imagine explaining that to the wife... How you got "burned".... If nothing else it would give the people in the emergency room something to laugh about for a few days...

Here's one more.... Imagine explaining how you got injuried to your insurance company... Or if it laid you up, explaining to your boss why you won't be coming in to work for a few days.

You don't repair something like that. The customer just brought it in that way more than likely to document the event in case the mfg gave him any grief in getting the laptop replaced.

If it was me, and I was the mfg... I'd replace it with whatever model the customer wanted for FREE, regardless if it was in , or "out" of warranty. In this case the unit was only five months old so this should not be a problem.

I've give the customer a "new" laptop, with whatever options he/she wanted, plus addtional stuff like a docking station, carry case, etc to keep the customer "happy". To retain the customer.

"Laptop Explodes:
I work as a pc technician for America's largest electronics retailer. Today a customer brought his laptop in for repair and stated that it "exploded". After five years as a tech I thought I had seen it all and was wondering about his perception of "explosion"....

Looks like the owner was in total shock when the thing went on fire; otherwise, it shouldn't look like that...

The battery was most likley overcharged.

Watch this video to see why you never overcharge a lithium battery!

After seeing that video you can understand why that lappy looks the way it does!!
