I just bought a 20" iMac Duo Core with this specs:
* Graphics Cards ATI Radeon X1600256MB SDRAM
* Memory 2GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM2x1GB
* Hard Drive 250GB Serial ATA drive
* Optical Drive SuperDrive 8X
* MAC OS Language Kybd, Mighty Mse and Mac OS X
* Country Kit and BT/AP Country Kit
+ the bluetooth and Air port extreme!!!
all this for 2200 US Dollars!!!
For this price and all the specs it's an excellent choice. With 2 gigs of RAM I don't think the Rossetta is gonna give me trouble (and i'm a graphic designer, i need performance). And if that happens I can surely wait the universal version of all major software in 6 months. Hey Apple's main target buyers are designers, do you think they are just going to switch to a new platform and give the designers poor performance? I don't think so. Rosetta it's just a matter of time while the new software comes. Besides it doesn't emulate the OS and that counts for something, also it's pretty intelligent, the more you use an application the faster Rosetta will emulate it the next time, almost like an 80% close to the universal version.
A G5 has nothing to do with an iMac. Better and faster RAM, A DUO CORE PROCESSOR, GDDR3 graphics card. I mean, like I already said, wait for the universal version of all software and you'll see, in the meantime back-up yourself with a lot of RAM (2 gigs like i did) and you wont have a problem.
