I just got my February issue of Maximum in the mail today. As I started to flip though the pages I saw a Sager ad (and thought to my self... finally). Later after going back to the ad I found they where now advertising the 8790! After I buy some AA batteries I will take a pic of the ad and post it :P~

Sure enough, I breesed right by it until I saw your post. It's on page 4 for anyone interested. I think I'm strangely disappointed now that the rest of the world is going to know about the power of Sager.

Bleh, all of the pics I take come out blurry. Im kinda regret selling my scanner now. Well as a second best thing i'll give you the price. $3195 for a 3.2 Ghz P4 EE, 1 Gig of PC3200 ram, 60 Gig 7200RPM HDD, and 2X DVD-R/RW. The rest of the specs are default stuff. Not a bad price if you have quite abit of money to invest. ZeroG I see your point, sager has such a small (yet cool) community.

Interesting how Sager has pricing information on the 8790 in print, but we still have not heard anything on this forum. The pricing information has to be a couple of months old in order to make it a monthly mag. Kind of a bummer.

Yeah, we do usually get the new info from PCTorque through this forum but this is info direct from sager... Im sure PCTroque knew about pricing long before this was printed and am surprised they did not tell us.

Might be a NDA in effect due to the fact that the unit hasn't hit the streets yet. Just a thought.

Or it could be a misprinted ad for an 8890. What was the screen size in the ad? The price is a few dollars less than the 15" 8890 on the Sager Web Site.

No, it definitely says NP8790 and lists a 17" WXGA Active Matrix Display with the ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9700 256MB.

If you price out a 8890 on PCT with the same options, it is a couple hundred bucks less. And seeing that this is Sager direct pricing (which is usually a bit higher than going through PCT), this bodes well for us. I would guess the pricing would be VERY similar to the 8890. Obviously I am still speculating.

What makes you sure? Why would they hold info?

That kinda info is sales... it makes or breaks. Dont you think that if PCT DID know, they would have said yesterday, since it was the in print (and in houses)? Not everything in this world is a consipracy thoeyr

Could someone scan a picture of the ad? I would like to see it and I don't get Maximum PC.
No, if we knew pricing we would share that as we always share any confirmed info within minutes of it being available. We could probably squeeze a little more info sometimes on details of things such as this, but we respect all the work they're putting into this and not bugging the engineers. They share with us what they can when they can and we in turn pass it to you. We work more with the techs and not the marketing people... the marketing side of things is who surely decided to throw some numbers out in the ad you're talking about.

Same here. I'm in Japan, so there's no way I'll get to see it. I'm in the market for a new laptop and altho' I've got a couple options that I'm leaning towards right now, this new unit might be the way to go.

And Adam, thanks for the update!

All,

I don't think Sager will mind a little free advertising.. Ad

Let me know if you have any problems with this link..

Not loading...

Hmm.. what error are you getting? The file is kind of huge, due to the fact that I didn't want to lose any detail. It seems to be working ok from outside as far as I can tell. Let see if anyone else is having problems. You might try going to http://scorpionsoftware2.com:2180/sager/ and the clicking on the "sager_maxpc_ad.jpg" filename or saving it to disk.

Even going to the directory:
