Application quits when screensaver ends

On my TravelMate 800, the application in focus (any application) sometimes quits when I wake it up from the screensaver (any screensaver), eg by moving the mouse. The application on top immediately quits. It looks like an ordinary exit (as if the mouse move was interpreted as an "exit" command), not a crash. As mentioned, it does not happen every time. All drivers are updated recently from the Acer Australia support site.

Any suggestions how to avoid this minor, but nevertheless annoying, problem would be appreciated!

Saw this on a Win2K workstation at my last job
we did a bunch of stuff to try to resolve... we weer about to just re-image the drive when I decided to try this:
disable screen saver
restart system
re-enable screen saver
Haven't heard anything more on that issue, it at least resolved it temporarily... dunno what caused it...
