Black/Silver 5680

Thread Starter
This is my new 5680. I ordered it on 5 Nov and received it on 31 Dec for all those interested in the painting timeline. As you can see, I have a thing for the black/silver paint scheme. That definitely worked in my favor. The paint job only cost $175 through PC Torque since I only had the lid and wrist areas painted. The rest is the stock silver. And that's with high-gloss paint. The paint quality is superb...
I'll try to write a review about the experience tonight - it was very positive.

From the best that I can tell after having had worked with them, I think they will do anything in their power to make you happy.

Thanks! Yes I did...It's a P4 3.2 with 1024MB DDR 400, (2) 37GB Raptors in RAID 0, one 200GB WD, ATI AIW 9700 128MB, Sound Blaster Audigy 2 EX, Plextor Premium CD-RW, Sony DRU-510 DVD/RW, Logitech bluetooth MX set, and a partridge in a pear tree...

Oh yeah, and I can't forget the Klipsch ProMedia Ultra's.

Zero, where did you get that readout thing on your case. I've been looking for those, one that reads the temperature and stuff. Can you point me in the right direction?

Yeah, I'm a C-17 pilot for the AF. I'm running the Giga-byte 875P motherboard (8KNXP).

I use the Coolermaster Aerogate II. It is by far the best "looking" controller on the market. However, I like the controls on the Aerogate I for everyday use. You can find them at Sundialmicro.com.

Sorry, they're few and far between for us. I only have two - one for normal operations and one for NVGs. The standard helmets cost $1500 from what I hear. I'm sure they could be bought at a large surplus store or something.

i've never been at Sunny's Surplus, but don't know if they would have it.

nice setup though!

Ok I'm really impressed with that particular paintjob style. I'm curious as to exactly how you got pctorque to do that. With the new price drops I think I'm going to want to do something along the same lines, in fact I might just "borrow" your idea. Do you send them an e-mail before ordering, did you place the order by phone, etc.?

I simply called Laura and asked her if it would be a problem. She said it wouldn't be any problem at all and that it would actually cut the price. I told them to just paint the lid and below the keyboard (anything that was that purple-blue color). Its worked out very nicely.

Hey ZeroG,

What happened to the link with the pics of your 5680? I saw them once, now the link is "Tango Uniform".

I emailed Laura about the same paint job. Now it's $200.

Beautiful machine.

My bad guys...I moved into a new house and had to take down the web server for a while. It should be back up now. I'll try to post my new pics this weekend.
