Hi, I am new to this forum although I have come here before when seeking laptop info/advice. I have read quite a bit about ViciousPC, both good and bad, and wanted to add my 2 cents as well as seek some help.
First off, my overall experience with ViciousPC has been good. I ordered the Shogun back in Feb 2005. Ordering was simple, I did it online and received the laptop within a week. I charged the battery, powered it up, and all was good. My only complaint at the time (still is) is that the battery sucks, at best I get 2 hrs doing normal tasks and about an hour if I am gaming, so whenever possible I just plug it in and work off an outlet instead of the battery.
About 4-6 months later, I started having serious problems with the DVD drive (it is a dual layer burner), it wouldn't burn and worse, would not recognize that the disc inside the drive had been changed. I called ViciousPC, they gave me an RMA number and simple instructions on how to remove the drive and told me to send it down to them. About a week later I received a new drive in the mail with instructions on how to install it. The whole process was very pleasant and quick, the person who helped me was very nice. So overall, I can't complain too much.
Now to switch topic - today I started up my laptop and Windows would not load. I got the error window with the options to start in various modes, Safe, Last Configuration, or Normal mode. I tried all 3 and Windows would not load. The last thing I did before powering down last night was play Rome Total War, and I had no problems. I have not downloaded or installed anything since I installed Battlefield 2 in December.
I contacted ViciousPC by phone several times today and nobody picked up the phone. So I sent them an e-mail describing the problem, I hope they will respond soon.
Anyone else ever experience this problem with their ViciousPC laptop? Or any computer for that matter? Any ideas on how to fix it? The computer is pretty much useless if Windows won't start up.
