Hi Guys
well I have been playing HL2 on mine (2gb model) and it runs extremely well, this is on out of the box drivers.
This is the first ati machine I have had in years, I fell out with ATI cards when they first introduced opengl to their drivers back on the xpert@play cards, basically the driver was pants and would crash any machine on any o/s constantly
however recently I have been trying out the latest cards and drivers and they are extremely stable, are they running something outside in .net (required) thats fixed a problem?
anyway the laptop has replaced my desktop, which had a geforce 6600 in it and I must say it performs admirably
I think people should consider that if you run at high res, you dont need to put so much anti aliasing on it, as it goes 800x600 with 4x antialiasing would look really good.
but hl2 and gta san an are running in 1280x800 and no problems at all
I would recommend this laptop for a current gaming machine, anything about 30fps is fine
p.s. I would really like to know if anyone has worked out if the x1400 is mxm it should be since its advertised as pci-express, and I would like to upgrade it,
the cpu is definitely upgradeable since it sits in a microPGA socket.
oh and dont forget THIS laptop takes up to 4gb of ram!!!! there are not many machines that can do this especially at this price range, so it does have some longevity, if the video card can be upped.
Keep testing guys and thanks for all the benchies
I got less than a k in 3dmark06 but its settled in a bit since the inital test
