Valermos,
I highly suggest NOT using the internal wireless provided with this laptop. Be sure you install the optional windows update for the wireless card (this helps somewhat), but then just buy a PCMCIA wireless card (better range anyway) or use LAN when possible. I am using a 108 D-Link MIMO card and it works great, just have the annoyance of it sticking out.

thx for answered phoenix ^^
i mailed alienware and they suggested me to update sound drivers (to v5.10.00.5930)

and video driver to 83.40 ( http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_mobile_83.40.html )
i did that but i had 2 blue screen since the change so i go back to old drivers and i'm testing if it blue screen again then i'll may reinstall 83.40.

about the internal wireless card for sure it's a big sh*t lol! but the win update drivers are from 2004... a little old! i'll try some other drivers suggested by a french driver site that after scan your ardware redirect you on "approprate" driver. i did the scan and for wirless he suggested me a asus or acer driver... i'll try them when i'll can.

ps: sorry for double post

There is a suggetion by a user somewhere on this forum to disable the Wireless Zero Configuration service. I did that and have next to no problems any more during game play.

You guys got your Power Option on "Always On" mode ? This will put your X2 into its full clock speed.

Does having it set on Always On improve performance? Just wondering, because I assume it clocks up to full when playing games or when it's needed; perhaps responsiveness might be improved.

make sure you have 2 gigs of ram if you play BF2 on high settings or else it will lag!

i don't have any problems with any game freezing or whatnot.

the only problem i have is with the internal wireless card (MSI), the range is shit and it lag spikes every 20 seconds when i play online games. i thought this lag spike was normal on wireless setup but i guess not since someone here mentioned that you can swap it out for the intel wireless card?

oh yeah, and disabling the wireless configuration setting is not an option because it disables the wireless card basically. so you can't use that to play wirelessly.

hi

someone have found a fix for this problem?
a friend have the same prob with a 9880 (p4 emt64 3.6Ghz, 2Go ram, 6800 ultra).
he have short lags of 5s with nfs:mw, oblivion... like me...

we don't have same wifi card, it can't be that...

we tryed Vsync on but no change... tryed different drivers, no sweep file for memory, mcrooft fix, ... but it doesn't solve the prob.

don't know what to do...

I have this exact problem. TURN ON V-SYNC FOR CS:S at least. You can type get_graph 1 I think, and it will display your fps. Without v-sync on I run about 85fps average with graphics and resolution on full. Every minute the fps droppes to exactly 15fps for about 5 seonds and then goes back up to 85.

With v-sync on, I am ALWAYS at 59-60fps and it looks so much better. I will be turning on v-sync in every game that has the option. Try it out guys.

It is a dual core processor problem when it runs on the power management. Set the power properties to "Always On" and the slow down will go away. The processor cooling on the 9750 is more than adequate for constant 2.6Ghz, only wish the video card cooling was as good...
