Battery Life | Warranty

Hi,
I've just got two questions.
Firstly i was wondering how i would extend my warranty, do AW send a letter telling me my Warranty is nearly expiring and how to extend it? like my previous vendor, HP.
Also do AW count the warranty from the day i recieved my Sentia or the day i ordered.

The other thing is i recently dicovered my battery life doesnt even last 2 minutes, i usually use my laptop plugged in so never knew until i came across this forum and decided to test my battery life by watching a movie in powercinema.

Also i contacted AW about both these questions and they still havnt replied 7 days today.
Thanks for Reading.

I sent them an email about extending warranty, here is what they recommend:
If you wish to upgrade the warranty on your system, our best recommendation is for you to contact our Customer Service Department at 1-866-287-6727, option 3. Our service hours for Customer Service are Monday through Friday, from 10 A.M. to 7 P.M. (EST).

If you need further assistance regarding this or any other topic, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

Best regards,

Jonathan Chinchilla

Yes, well, AW e-mail support is notoriously bad. I'd do two things:
1)Completely drain your batteries<<Make sure they're drained by entering BIOS while your lappy's plugged in an' then unplug an' leave it until it shuts down>> an' then recharge fully.
2. Call AW tech directly. Not unlikely they've just labelled it 'resolved' as happened to me the two times I tried their E-mail tech. Annoying, it is.

BugEater, laptop batteries are lithium ion so they don't require discharging. In fact deep discharges will ruin the battery.

NICD- Requires discharging to 0.9v/cell before charging. Delta peak charging.
NIMH- Doesn't require discharging. Delta peak charging.

From what I've read, when they begin to behave in the manner dRke described, such a discharge will sometimes do the trick. I could be wrong, however. But yes, they do not, under normal circumstances, require discharging.

Thanks for the replies, i phoned AW last night and regarding teh battery i was told to discharge and phone them back if its still the same.
And regarding the warranty i found out i have a month and a couple of days left, so i'll be sure to phone customer service to extend it.

Thanks to everyone who tried to help, i'm currently not at home so dont know if the discharge worked, i left it charging.
[EDIT]
Also about the discharging, i recently read in the manual that its recommended i you do it every month or so.

And the battery life was still the same, phoned the AW and they told me to send it back and they would send me a new one.

are you sure it lats just 2 MINUTES or 2 HOURS?

2 minutes would be pretty strange, but yes i noticed the batteries are pretty weak

pretty sure even timed it, its been quite a while since i used the battery but AW are sending me a new one so all should be well. Also i ordered my sentia on the 31st of Jan 05 so coming up to a year and its still as fast as it was and i've yet to see a similar laptop in shops, when i first got it i think it ran at 4 hours, but cant remember.
