WinPVR USB2 is a better GUI and works with MCE (Not an issue for you) but has not HD capability.
The Fusion 5 has a package that includes a little handy HD antenna that would work well within a Dorm, I'd guess. You can also hook up cable and if they are carrying any HD (locals usually) you will get them that way as well.
I heard the antenna was nothing to write home about... I do like the idea of over air HD for free though... I don't want to pay for cable

Do you use the antenna? How well does it work...? I am definitely considering getting this. And I assume you ordered from Snapstream?

thanks for all the help. i'll probably go with the TV Tuner on my laptop instead of getting aa additional TV. That way maybe I can't distract myself when i have to write a paper!!

The antenna is definately nothing to write home about, but it does work and it is usable.
I do use it of I am away from my cable. Sometime it is easier.

Reception will depend on how far your are from the broadcast and what kind of signal you can pick up.

I see.. well I am 40 miles east of LA... so the signal should be pretty good I assume?

It's because they spend $500 on said frivolities that they cannot afford the TV.

i just received my fusion hdtv usb. With respect to over the air tv, i get 3 fuzzy channels in my dorm. I guess im too far away from the broadcasting area. I have not tried it out with cable yet. So far the only use i have for the tuner is connecting my cube to it to play some super smash bros. It is kinda glitchy but im still happy.

Where are you located? I am near LA, so I think I may have a better shot as it is a big metropolitan area.
