Is my card overheating? Everquest issues

Hi all, I just installed Everquest on my Area-51m (old model). I have a Mobitliy Radeon 9000 with 128mb of Ram, a 2.6Ghz P4 and 512mb Ram. It has been working fine with numerous games including Max Payne 2. However Everquest keeps locking up after no more than 20 minutes of play. I will be logged in and everything is going fine, then without warning I hear this loud tick or metallic pop sound and my whole computer locks up. The only way to unlock it is to hold in the power button. Anyone have any ideas as to what's happening?

Strange....I play Morrowind (full blast settings) on mine from the time I get home from work until the time I got to bed (midnight) and it runs fine....never a lockup.

Does the noise sound mechanical like a hard drive, or electrical like a component is popping?

electrical like something popping.. it's not the normal scraping sound of a failing HD

Is there some sort of utility that can track the temp of my CPU and GPU?

What it sounds like is your power settings... after 20 minutes, that sound you describe sounds like the HD going to sleep.
