MY 9400 has SHIPPED! YAY - Page 3

I have just done the reformat of mine to clear out some of that dell bloatware. All running very well so far and build quality is great. I ran 3d mark 2005 with the default install from dell and got approx 4000.

I also installed rivatuner after the format and noticed that some pixel and vertex shaders were disabled in bios. Will test out enabling them as I did to my 6800LE AGP card last year....unless someone knows of a reason why I shouldn't???

Rivatuner tells me the 7800 Go has 16 pixel pipes with 6 vertex shaders enabled.

Just ran 3d mark 2005 after the format with the stock 16/6 pipes and shaders and overclocked the card to 375/905 and got 5500 3d marks.

Is it really necessary to reformat it?
What did you use to overclock it?
how many pipes are there to unlock

Wow thats a nice overlock! I'm not sure if I will be formatting mine. I will probably just uninstall a lot of the bloatware right off the bat. 5500 marks is impressive though! What speed is your Ram Nigel?

How did you "reenable" the pipes in your 6800LE? Was it a bios flash? ... or something simpler and less "dangerous" (not to mention would void your warranty)??? Thanks! Mine is still in transit (since Saturday).. I don't git it..

With any luck they can still make their ETA of jan 27th!
And forwarded to boxing. next step: deliver it at my door

Hopefully I'll get if before the weekend. That would give me plenty of time to set it up just right!

My packing slip however doesn't mention the exact type of screen and disk, like the US ones do.

No one more. They have all 24...it is an extra mobile chip.

...and Ati is coming today with 48 pixel shaders on their new x1900.

But I hate Ati chips...

I will buy an i9400 next week.

My 9400 arrived It's at work where a coworker signed for it. I'll tell you guys all about it later

that's interesting about the disabled pipes, I wonder if enabling them shortens the life of the GPU, etc.?

It is isn't it. I can hardly imagine why it would kill the GPU, unless heat is an issue. This we can monitor relatively easy though.

I'm wondering if there's a way to find out which type of RAM there is on the card without opening up the box.

I still haven't re-enabled the pipes yet. I am still unsure and need to do a bit more research.

I unlocked the pipes on my 9800 AGP card using Rivatuner
http://www.guru3d.com/rivatuner/

Was very easy and gave a great increase in performance.

So its possible to unlock pipelines without having to change the BIOS? Can you link to a guide that shows how to do it?

Yes, it's all done at driver level which you can bypass on boot if you want.
This is what I followed for my agp card.

How's that Media Direct thing work these days? Does it boot up a special DVD player from ROM, or does it still have to boot windows to work?
