9300 Paint Job

Decided to paint the 9300 today. my buddy owns a auto body shop so i took everything apart and took the parts down to him to paint. i went with the two tone scheme. white and blue. I am happy with the way it turned out. I did mess up a small part on the top by being impatient and not letting the paint completely dry, but i can sand and buff it tomorrow.

looks great, i would have done the bezel and hinge cover while you were at it though.

Schwing! That is pretty slick my friend. Just curious, about how long did that take?

Looks good, but it would be 100000 times better if the white sections were black!

i did think about black too. Might have to reshoot the white parts anyways. might try black. It took about an hour tear down, and another hour to put it all back together, then another hour to take it all apart and find where that damn screw goes. the painting also took about an hour with about 2 hours to dry.

Very nice dude. Looks very nicely done. I'd also recommend painting the bezel and hinge cover blue, and the trim black, if you're looking for opinions. Either way though, definitely pretty pimp.

Very nice. Beautiful color choice and combination.

it looks nice, but I am too much of a wuss to paint my computer. desktops are one thing, but my laptop is something completely different...

Sweet! Looks great! Love the Blue and White yet think the trim in Black may set the Blue off even more! I'd go for the Black and see

Nice. I've been thinking of doing something like that. Well done.

i would like if my 9300 were blacked out, even the dell logo, that would be badass...but it will NEVER happen.

are there instructions somewhere on how to take this thing apart so i can get to all of the paintable parts w/o messing something up?

Well I took it all apart again today, wet sanded it, polished it with compond and wax. and put it all back together. I gotta say, it looks better than it did after it was first painted. The pictures absolutly do it no justice. I will take a short video when i get home and post it to show the depth and smooth paint.
Now that i have it looking perfect, I am happy with the colors (sorry, no black) and i really like the pearl white at the top of the keyboard and hinges. dell really should concider this as a paint scheme
If anyone wants help with painting theirs. Give me a shout.

looks excellent, AzPliot.

I'm too much of a wuss to want to customize mine in any way like that, but more power to those willing to take the chance.
