I9300 vs XBOX 360

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has an XBOX 360?
What do you think, should I sell my 9300 and buy an HP DV1000 and XBOX 360 or wait for PS3?

Thanks

They are two completely different things with two completely different purposes. They have different component architectures and are designed for their own bit. I have a 360, and it's a different experience than playing PC games. It comes down to what type of gamer you are. If you're into MMO's and RTS's, PC. Everything else, Console.

Comparing a PC and a Console is an improper way of presenting the two.

no I think it's a valid question, most people got the 9300 to play games, I dont know too many people editing their own movies or making games on their 9300. I say sell the 9300 for a profit, that's what I've been thinking.

$2000 vs $300 for 360

Actually, I bought mine for web surfing, work-related stuff, multimedia, reading ebooks, doing my taxes, then games on the side. And I wanted it all in a portable package.

actually, you can buy an emachines or build your own computer to do all of those things for like....$200 or so...

Hmm

Yeah,

How much is my I9300 worth? I got it $1500 new, I'm thinking $1200?
Maybe sell it and get the 360 and a few games, and a Compaq V2000.

Specs:

1.73 Ghz Pentium M Dothan
60GB 5400 RPM
DVD/CDRW Combo (no DVD+RW)
2200 b/g wireless
1 GB RAM
nVidia 6800

Is $1200 good? Bought it in October w/1 year Complete Care.

I hate playing fps on a console...controllers suck ass compared to a key board and mouse.

PC games are generally just more fun to me.

For me i use my xbox for playing games and stuff when friends come over just cause they can just come in, grab a controller, and play. For me i play my pc more single player games or games that i can play over the internet. I know people can do the whole multiplayer thing with PCs put its a little harder to set up compared to just picking up a controller (even if everyone has laptops)
Either way, im going to wait until the PS3 comes out before i make any final decision

Yeah, I think what I'll do is wait until PS3 is out. XBOX 360 just looks so ****ing sweet though! I wish I could find complete specs for both to compare them!

You can't...

...take an X360 with you on the road. Or I should say, you CAN, but good luck hooking it up to a hotel TV (a lot have their video/audio in ports disabled), or on a plane, or in a bus...well, you get the idea.

The PSP is the closest device I've seen that approaches everything I can do with my XPS Gen2/m170 as far as portability is concerned.

I'm away from home half the year, with lots o' dead time traveling. If that describes your life at all, I wouldn't get rid of that i9300 so fast...

i have been thinking the same thing. I have this i9300 just to game on, so is it really worth having a 1500-2000$ machine just for that? especially when i can get an xbox360 that does the job for 300$? I'l miss mouse and keyboard for games, but i can always build up a 200$ system and play CS 1.6

Happy to see i'm not the only one contemplating "the switch"

See that's I've been thinking.
Plus, graphics cards in the computer world go obsolete pretty quickly.
At least with a 360 it won't go obsolete until the next next-gen console comes out.

Ya know?

yup, not to mention how powerfull the xbox360's gpu is already. i wonder what it compares to in a PC, dual 7800gtx's? All that power and the game devs. optimise like crazy for consoles (halo2), i can see the xbox360's graphics being ahead of pc for a good while, even when ATi's X1900 series comes.

X360 has an ATI 500 Mhz GPU with 512 MB ram, so it should be close to an SLI 7800

Xbox 360 uses an ATI GPU with a 500 mhz clock (like the x800) and 512 MB ram.

good to know, so i dont get it, for those of us who own our i9300's just to game on, why are we paying 2 grand to play games on a system that is half as powerfull as a system we can get for 300$? i'm sorry i like keyboard and mouse but not that much.

anyone want to buy my i9300? 130w ac should be in this week.

i'll just get both. some games don't come out on consoles while others don't on PC. I like having a gaming rig and a gaming console because some are better on one than the other. plus i like the fact that its portable and gives me more flexiblility than a console does.
