[Help]How can I upgrade CPU for 3438G?

Hello..

I was wondering that does anyone know how to remove the CPU from the socket. I was trying to upgrade my CPU, but I have no idea how the CPU could be remove. Could anyone please tell me? That will be perfect if someone can show me the picture.

I found that CPU is connected to the fan by a heat pipe. Also the graphic card is connected to the fan. If I want to remove the cpu, which means I have to remove them all. However, a part of the fan is under the side of the laptop, which cannot be taken of directly. Has anyone removed the CPU successfully?

Many thanks

Are you sure that bugs will appear if I do so?

That computer has a badass bug and you got it now and will also have it after you upgraded. Go to the FS forums and read about the bugs.

I'm having problems with WLAN. The speed keeps dropping down to 1mb once in a while. Sometimes I get even disconnected. Solutions?

I set up a PM 780 on mine last week-end -- with success. Changing the CPU per se is fairly easy to do, you just need to be cautious when you apply the thermal grease (Artic Silver 5). The hardest part is in removing the cooling system because there are several pieces of thermal pads laid open on the graphics card that tightly bind the heatsink, a bit like a suction cup.

Removing the cooling system:
- Unscrew the CPU heatsink (3 screws)
- Remove the 4 screws from the gfx card heatsink
- Remove the 1 screw from the system fan
- Gently pull back the gfx card heatsink by acting successively on its corners. No need to pull forcefully, at some point the heatsink will free itself naturally leaving the thermal pads unaffected on the gfx card.

Now, you can take the cooling system off without a hitch

For instructions about replacing the CPU, click the following links:
