Photos of my new toy. Sony's Vaio V505DX. Pentium M 1.4, Radeon 9200. 4.2lbs. Amazing.

If anyone knows how to get the bottom completely off, let me know. I can't resist seeing how everything's crammed in there!

Actually, considering that there's a sticker for the Mobility Radeon 9200, and the fact that Sony's Specifications for this laptop indicate the same thing, I'd say it's a Radeon 9200.

Is this the same notebook that comes out in Johnny ENglish?

By the way I am really interested in this notebook... i had never heard of it... but it looks amazing. I am in the market for the best compromise between power and mobility. Most small models only have integrated graphics... except for the Samsung x10 which is only sold in Japan and the X31IBM that does not come with an internal optical drive.

Can we have a review on it? and more pics?

Congrats on the notebook. One day soon I will be posting my "Guess what came in the mail!!!" message. Dang I hate the slow APO.

Nice Babylon 5 desktop image.

If you mean like all one piece no, my sister has that laptop (well not the same specs but a v505 something) and the keys are just really flat. But about the laptop it is pretty good overall and is a nice size, not tiny but not huge.

I sold that machine after owning it for about 3 months. The Alps touchpad is a POS and would cut out occasionally. The 1024x768 LCD is less than perfect, it's contrast is pretty poor.

Other than that though it was a great machine. I loved Sony's power management controls where you could set machine performance according to how much fan noise you wanted (or just set it to have the fan NEVER come on!)

The 9200 ran Halo at 800x600 quite adequately. 1024 was doable in outdoor areas. It overclocked to 275/275 or so.
