yup, it's a Go 7800, not a GTX. Basically, the difference seems to be that the card uses the same core clocked down to 250MHz and it uses DDR1 RAM. Both of these additions make sense as the underclocked core and DDR1 RAM will make the card run much cooler with better battery life.

If you want to know where the performance numbers stand for Dell 9300/9400 etc notebook cards think of it this way

#1 Geforce 7800 GTX go 256MB
#2 Geforce 6800 Ultra go 256MB
#3 Geforce 7800 go 256MB
#4 Geforce 6800 go 256MB
#5 Radeon x300 128MB

What do you mean it won't run games on full res - what games? I was told it would run all the games available now, and for a year in the future ...

Of course, I am mainly interested in games like Command & Conquer, Civ 4, AGe of Mythology, Age of Empires - so what am I missing here?

When you click on 7800 Go Series, it sends you to the Go 7800 GTX and 7800 (vanila) main page.. if you click "Tech Specs" it sends you to the 7800 GTX page, which states DDR3 memory (which is more power efficient than DDR 1 and DDR2).. I don't see why 7800 vs 7800 GTX would have different memory..

Okay, upon forther reading, this is from http://www.nvidia.com/page/go_7800gtx_faq.html

Q: How many pipes does GeForce Go 7800 GTX have?
The GeForce Go 7800 GTX has 32 pipes-24 pixel pipes and 8 vertex pipes.

Q: How many pixel shading engines does GeForce Go 7800 have?
It has 24 pixel shader units.

Q: How many vertex shading engines does GeForce Go 7800 have?
It has 8 vertex shader units.

Q: What kind of memory does GeForce Go 7800 use?
GeForce Go 7800 supports DDR1, DDR2, and GDDR3.

So the GTX has 32 pipes, 24 pixel 8 vertex..

Does the next 2 Q's say 24+8 or 24 total, 8 vertex (for 16+8)?

I could also be wrong on the memory.. it could be any of the 3.. depending what Dell chose.. Boy that's confusing..

Wrong, sorry

7800 Go performs better than 6800U at higher resolutions.
