Windows Media Player....Resource Hog?

So, I have a pretty powerfull desktop; an Athlon X2 4800, dual 7800GTX graphics cards, 2 gigs of memory, dual 10k raptors in RAID 0, etc...

When using Windows Media Player 10, I look on task manager, and it seems to be using between 20-30 percent CPU utilization. Is this normal, and if so, why in the hell is WMP such a hog? I mean other than MS sucks, which is the default answer.

Turn off visualizations. Also, depending on if your watching a video or not postprocessing can be a real hog on CPU time.

Huge difference! Thanks for the help, I should have thought of that.

It also helps switching to the Windows classic view and also turn off the menu visual effects.

It will speed up things a little bit.
