Maybe Pat at Hypersonic can help w/ fan speed...

Ok, I started this thread to help those who have new Bios (I got my computer back from repair on 1/18/06) and want to control the fan speed.

As suggested by Ratmyr, I did both the fn+f10 and fn+f2, however these do not affect the fan speed for people who have new bios.

I tried the search function in this forum, but got the 404 error everytime. Tried google to no avail.

So, maybe Pat or somebody at Hypersonic can help us out by telling us how to increase the fan speed for those with the newest BIOS. I like my fan speed at a constant (high). Currently the fan would cycle: stop at 45c, then when it hit 60c the fan would start again.

Thanks!!!

I know Pat will get the answer for you. Also - check out the bios version/date that you have. It could be that there is a newer version or something.

I found this thread (a bit older) that may help, but before applying anything, wait to see what Hypersonic comes back with. Don't want to screw up your system.

One note - looks like I was confused between the GX7 and the EX7. I believe the FN+F2 is the correct combination after reading the older threads. Been so long since I played with the EX7.

Good luck.

Thanks Ratmyr.

I look up the advanced tab in the bios. It looks like I do not have the option of setting the fan on continous mode v.s. cycle mode.

Btw, my bios version is revision V146 1.00.04

I really want my fan to blow air in continously. So I am eagerly waiting to hear from Hypersonic.

You can't step the fans higher by pressing Fn + F2? Please PM me your email and invoice number.

Hi Pat, I've chucked over my email and invoice number to you through PM. Thanks to both you and Ratymr. Hopefully, I can get some resolve.

Well, after patiently waiting for a resolution, I decided to bravely update the bios on my own. I am glad to say that after updating the bios, I have now the option of using continous fan and fn+f2 now also works. My hat off to Ratmyr for providing the link a few post above.

With Fn+f2, I noticed that fan would turn full blast akin to hairdryer. Somewhat, I dont think using the full blast is good for the fans in long term.

My question is, does any one here still have the fan-always-on bios created back around January 2004? That bios maintained my laptop temp between 40-53c. With the current "continous" mode, the temp is between 47-63c. I also noticed under the most recent bios, the fan is quieter than the fan always on bios built back in the early 2004. I want that old bios. It's most ideal for me. Maybe Ratmyr will come to rescue

Edit: The perfect bios would be the one that allows for multiple Fan Speeds, i.e, Fn+F2 once would be highest fan speed, Fn+f2 second time would make fan throttle down a level and so on.

I don't think I can help you, but in the Sager threads, there were posts that had the older and newer bios'. I will have to search, but I don't think Ihave anything from my EX7 days.

As for the EDIT - That was one of the complaints (many complained about) with the bios. You either had the always on, or the throttle version with the max keys.... I guess the reason that the max didn't bother me is because of my hearing loss.

Will see what I can find though.

Thanks Ratymr. I will be combing this forum too. I will post the link if I find it. Maybe someone else may want the old fan always on bios.

On side note, Ratymr- I think you play Cs:s? That's the only game I play other than Tiger woods 2006. You can find me in one of the hardmud.com server: 64-man mega server at: 63.135.227.42:27015. I usually play around 5:00-7:30pm est until my fingers tires out.

There're a couple of hardmud servers, but the mega 64 server is where I play the most. Hardmud has the best, stable servers out there. My handle is : Fighting_Flea. Good thing about these hardmud servers is they have stats on hardmud.com so I can keep track on who I kill.
