Tell me, so that I don't have to go through all of these posts (I have read a lot of them, howevever), does it seem to make a difference whether a confg includes a P4 (ala the Alienware notebookd) or a Pentium M (ala the Dell XPS notebooks) when it comes to 3D Mark06?

It depends on what video card you have, for the most part for the actual 3D marks score.
