Upgrade to On-Site Warranty

Hey guys,
After responding to Zerboxx's post about his new purchase, I checked out the new m3200 order prices. I happened to see that Alienware is now offering On-Site service on new orders. I called them this morning to inquire about upgrading from Depot service to On-Site. With any warranty upgrade (90 day to 1yr, 1yr to 2yr, or 2yr to 3yr) your policy changes from the original Depot service to On-Site. The change happens immediately and applies to any previous/current service issues.

I just thought this was a much better option than the Depot service and figured I'd share the info with you guys. The upgrade from 1yr to 2yr is $195 and from 1yr to 3yr is $265. Now maybe I can get my malfitting case issue fixed without having to send the Sentia back to the Depot.

You have the option of having the part delivered to you and then a (subcontracted) tech come by and install it, rather than having to ship your system to the Depot for warranty work. I'd assume it doesn't work in all situations (like my malfitting case...that's still a Depot issue), but like if your hard drive dies they ship you a new one and send some dude by to put it in. If I understand correctly, if you have a Depot Service warranty, then, in that situation, you would have to restore the computer to the original configuration and then ship it off to the Depot.

That was how the phone rep explained it to me.
