Experienced low framerates on battery too, I guess the BIOS setting that deals with power saving needs to be changed to High-performance mode. Otherwise all the games I tried run very smoothly, even in native res 1680x1050.

To fix that, change the power management scheme from "Portable/Laptop" to "Always on". In that case, the CPU frequency won't vary anymore. You can double-check with any utility that will report the CPU speed.
