VERy IMPORTANT FOR THOSE OF YOU WAITING FOR AN M5500 IN PHASE 3!!! - Page 7

Experienced low framerates on battery too, I guess the BIOS setting that deals with power saving needs to be changed to High-performance mode. Otherwise all the games I tried run very smoothly, even in native res 1680x1050.

Another important finding: some games, especially older ones, don't work very well with the Intel Speedstep technology, and you can exprience hick-ups here and there. To fix that, change the power management scheme from "Portable/Laptop" to "Always on". In that case, the CPU frequency won't vary anymore. You can double-check with any utility that will report the CPU speed.

These two advices impact battery life, so keep track of what you're doing if you need to maximize battery life on other occasions.

Had to open it up to install the 2GB of Mushkin RAM I got from Newegg ... thought yall'd like a "gut shot"

Just wanted to get these up asap ... I'll post a formal review after I get some s/w loaded up ... Initial setup was a breeze ... connected right to my wireless network using the Intel utility (never used that one before - alot better than the Windows deal).
I am currently waiting to get my new 5500 and also purchased the mushkin 2 gigs of ram.

My question to you is did you open up your laptop and installed the new ram before you even turned the laptop on for the first time? Or do you have to turn it on first and set it up before you change out the ram?

I would personally boot it up and run through intial setup before changing hardware.
