9300 w 6800 Ultra heat & Battery life

Ok, the search is acting funny and I've spent the last hour looking through threads but there are loads of them about upgrading the 9300.

I just got a 6800 Ultra off of Ebay (would love the 7800 GTX, but don't have the dough right now)

I was wondering how much that will affect the Battery life (9-cell of course) and how much hotter my lappy will be?

Thanks.

The 6800 will get hot when you're gaming, but it won't be bad if you set the Powermizer settings to conserve power when using the battery.

I have the 9300 with the 6800ultra upgrade.

I went from about 3 hours to around 2.5 hour on battery life (I haven't optimised anything yet - might be able to squeeze more life with a bit of stuffing around). Oh, this is with a 9 cell.

Temps - CPU temps, no real noticeable difference. GPU idles around 53 degrees C, and the highest I've seen it go is 95 degrees C after a pretty long, intense gaming session. This isn't a concern, as nvidia have the throttle temp set in the drivers at 101.

Oh, and I should mention that I've overclocked my card to 500/1200, so obviously you won't see quite the extreme temp (although idle will be the same). I would guess that you will see a load temp of 80 to 85 degrees.

When i tested the 9cell battery before swapping the card, it lasted more than 4 hours with ATI X300 128, but now seems like it lasted only about 2 hours with 6800 ULTRA. Isn't there any modded bios that allows us to boot and use the computer in a lower power when not gaming? So that also we can use the 90W AC power and 6 cell battery for booting the system? I was wondering whether there are any smart people in this forum working on this mod... That would be really nice. I missed the long battery hours before swapping the card.

Yeah we need a dang stickie on battery life conservation for the 9300s. I was at school and my sorry 6 cell barely goes 1:15 and I need it for 2 lol. I ordered a 9 cell last night should be here by Friday, but I would still like to see some tips.
