8890 Won't Boot :(

as my 8890 turns 2 years, it gave me a big surprise by not booting after i came home from class and had it in standby mode

when i plugged everything in, and lifted the lid, it looked like it was starting to power up though the lcd backlight didn't turn on, but i didn't hear it doing anything

i thought, okay, windows is messed up, i'll just power off and powerb ack on. when i power on, the num caps and scroll leds flash like normal, and the cdrom light lights up like usual, but then nothing, the screen backlight doesn't turn on, and then after a while, i get intermittent long beeps, almost like the battery is dying. this occurrs on battery power, ac power, and ac power with no battery power. i also have an external monitor connected, but nothing comes up on it during the boot stage, no bios screen, nada. any ideas before i call sager in the morning?

Try removing both or one of your hard drives.

On one of my many repairs, I had a bad c: boot drive go bad and the warranty repair company said it was the boot drive preventing it.

Funny thing was it had been replaced just one month before.
When it came back with another drive it worked

also run Memtest x86 to check your memory.

where do you find mentest x86?

i've had a similar problem recently. so many things could be wrong, i dont know where to start.
after a occasional reoccuring problem with the touchpad, new HD install and format, now it doesn't even boot.

gets to where win startup should occur, then freezes, HD light goes out, then no other apparent actions.

any ideas?

thanks in advance guys.

UPDATE: The problem was with the motherboard, and SEI replaced it, only when they sent the machine back to me, i got 512 MB less memory!

That's right, my 1gb factory Dual Channel Ram was stripped down to a single 512 MB stick! i called up Phillips, and SEI got back in touch with me a few days later, they sent me out another stick of 512, but i told them i need dual channel ram. they didn't know wtf i was talkin about, which is disheartening, but i'm gonna try out this stick of ram. if it reduces my performance or stability in any way, best believe they are going ot hear about it!
