T43p or Hp nw8240?

I'll ask this here too:

I have to deside which one should be be my next laptop (for work), Lenovo T43p (UC3F8SH) or HP nw8240 (PG818EA). Both are about the same price and specs, the HP comes with 2GB memory, otherwise standard options.

The T43p is a good lappy, one of my friends has it, with the 9 cell battery though, so I've some experience and knowledge of it. And I like it, very much.

The HP on the other hand, is totally new to me, I haven't even ever seen one in real life, so there are lot's of question in mind naturally.

Mainly I'm wondering the HP's WUXGA-display, is it as good as the Lenovo's 15" UXGA (FlexView?)?

The second thing is the build quality, is there a noticeable difference? Today I got my hands on a HP nc6220 and that seemed very solid, almost like Thinkpads.

And the third thing, the HP has been rather good what comes to the battery, about 4-4,5h normal desktop use if I'm not totally mistaken. What about the T43p? With the 6 cell battery?

And last, of course the performance is an issue, allthough I'm selecting a lappy for my work use, gaming and movies have to be considered too (this is because my boss want's me to get a lappy I can take to lan parties too ) The HP has the FireGL V5000, which performs equivalent to Radeon X700 if I understand correctly, and the Lenovo has the FireGL V3200 which is like the X600, right?

So, any comments?

Thinkpad is better. Take into account construction materials, metal hinges, titaniun reinforced bottom and magnesium lid, not abs plastic (used in hp's) that makes a very rough machine, a must when traveling a lot. The keyboard and trackpoint, and general ergonomics have no par in the market. Support keeps fine with Lenovo. 3 years Guarantee. As to performance they are almost similar. However if you could wait a little I would reccomend you the new T60p, double core set and full capabilities in sight of the new vista OS.

Thanks for your comment.

I know that the Thinkpad is very well built and made of the best materials, but how's the quality of the new HP?

And yes, I'd really like to wait and see what the new T60p is alike, but like I said, I have only one week to decide what laptop to get.

Check this thread, especially toward the end:

To summarize, I was also contemplating an NW8240 before settling on a T43p (and now waiting for a T60p). Here's why:

1. The Thinkpad has a better LCD. It's brighter and has a better viewing angle.

2. The Thinkpad's trackpoint is more usable than the trackpoint on the HP.

3. The thinkpad has the best keyboard of all notebooks.

4. The thinkpad has a fingerprint reader.

However, the NW8240 is better than the T43p in these areas:

1. It has better connectivity options.

2. It has a better GPU.

3. It's lighter.

4. It has higher resolution, but on a 15.x" screen, it's hard to read unless you increase the font dpi.

I think the T43p and the NW8240 are two of the best notebooks for business; this is why it's hard to choose. But for me, the Thinkpad is the winner.
