Will adding memory void warranty?

I want to order the SZ but I don't want to buy the Sony super expensive kind. I was thinking of ordering some from NewEgg but will it void my warranty?

with a sony...most likely yes but it wouldn't hurt to give them a call to find out

When I installed my Crucial RAM It said voided warranty if removed.

Hope this helps!

Could I reinstall the original memory it came with if I needed to send it back?

COMPUSA and Sony told me if I changed/upgraded anything myself, it would void the warranty. I upgraded the hard drive and memory and everything is fine, but I’m keeping the original HDD and memory stick.

My thinking is why send it to Sony/COMPUSA and let them charge me a lot of money for the upgrade when I know how to do it for free.

Wonder if they can tell that you've tampered with the RAM/HD

If so... sad....

They only know if there is some sort of seal or sticker to break. And the Sony S-series does not have such tamper-resistant cables (at least my Sony S360 did not). The technician working on your laptop is more interested in fixing the problem than they are in trying to find evidence as to why they shouldn't fix it. Only in blatant tampering cases will they deny a repair request.

I have swapped both HD and memory on my system. I had to send my laptop back to Sony for service. Before I sent it back, I restored the original memory / HD configuration, and I did not get any problems.
