Hey all,
I got a pc a few years back for my bro. Apparently, it's dead. He said the screen flashed 'No Sync' and so he shut it off. After a few minutes he said there was a loud crack, and a burning smell. So he pulled the plug totally.
Ok, my suggestions were bad video card, bad motherboard, or bad PSU.
Now, the pc won't power up at all when plugged in leading me to think it is bad power supply or mobo and not a problem with the video card.
My question is really not related to that as I will just test it with a new PSU and such to figure out what went wrong. My question comes with the motherboard.
I set it to have 2 * 160GB hard drives in raid0 using onboard raid controller. I was thinking that if the mobo is indeed bad, there will be no way for me to recover the hard drive stuff. So, just as a preemptive resolution, can anyone suggest, that if it is indeed the motherboard, how I might go about NOT losing all the data due to my assinine move of using the onboard raid controller?
