you guys that recived your E1705/9400, how is the screen?
any light leakage or sparkel effect?

Definately a small amount of leakage on the bottom of my screen. Havn't noticed any sparkles yet though.

The leakage doesn't really bother me.

shit that really sucks
I was hopping that they would of fix this stupid problem on this model.
is it anything like this pic i am posting?

I had moderate light leakage and was pretty disappointed when I first turned it on, but I guess i must have gotten used to it, because it doesnt bother me as much as it did when I first got it. True blacks get washed out from the leakage tho.

Yes the visible light actually peaks a little higher on my 9400 and diffuses out more, so it's actually worse on mine.

No sparklies here, havent seen any stuck pixels from normal use so far, havent used something to exclusively check for them yet.

Mine is not quite as bright, and only takes up 1/4th of the width of what the above picture shows.. any way, I don't notice it any more (still on dark screens it's there, of course)

I love this machine

Yeah, I have some pretty good leakage at the bottom of my screen too. I'm going to snap some pictures over lunch and post them.

That leakage looks just like my Truelife on my 9300. No dead pixels though, so that's a plus, but unfortunately the contrast ratio is really terrible when compared to a good external LCD like my Dell 1905FP.

Still, not to put it down; it's a much better screen than most notebook screens out there, it just doesn't quite match up to some of the other screens in it's Desktop Replacement category.

Here are some pics I took over lunch.

As you can see from this pic, the light leakage isn't too bad when on battery power.

But when you plug in and the display brightens up, you can really see it.

If you are looking at the screen from just slightly above it, it get's even worse.

But, on a positive note, no dead/stuck pixels!

Is it really as bad as it looks? Gettin kinda scared over here.
Mine looks great.. I don't know why you'd think it's "so bad"..
It's not really horrible, I kinda got used to it, but it is sorta annoying sometimes while watching DVDs. While there are LCDs that are much better, there are also many more that are much worse.

btw, Powerstrip lists the LCD as Samsung SEC5557

there are some posts about the lcd here
