What's up with Dell's Bluetooth drivers? - Page 3

Hrm, I'm having a problem getting the headset to work with these drivers...

There is my original post but its kind of gone off topic of the original post but all of my posts say what I have, what I've done, and now the issue I'm currently having.

For step 10, to remove the icon, what is the description for the registry key supposed to be?

OK... weirdness just happened. The keyboard of my MX5000 set had stopped working because something in the driver software went bunko. Uninstalled everything [setpoint, wildcom stack, the BT 350 module] and even disabled the built in windows stack per the ms website instructions.

Restart and windows recognizes then automatically installs its own stack for the bt350 module... no chance to select "cancel". On a whim I tried to add the mouse and keyboard using the windows interface only... low and behold they both worked! No using the Logitech dongle or software.

The MX1000 mouse works as it had before [after originally installing it per the guide], both the scroll wheel and back/forward browser buttons work. Response on the keyboard is fine, but the only advanced keys working are the touchpad volume control and "email". Hitting the "Media" key will open Winamp but the other controls [play/pause/ff/rew] do nothing.

In a bit I'll try installing the Logitech drivers on top of the windows bt stack and see if all the "special" functions will start working.

I am having a similar problem. My HS 850 was working fine with my Toshiba BT Drivers on my Dell Inspiron 9300. Now with Widcomm 5 - 802 installed I can pair and connect to the Motorola Headset HS 850, but I cant use it functionally for Voice Conference using Skype or any other app. How can I make it work?

PS: I dont have any Logitech devices so I skipped those steps. Is this Widcom 5 package completely functional.

Suggestions?

Should I go back to Dell Toshiba drivers or try the Widcom v4. Please point me to something that works for the Voice con on Dell 9300 with BT 350

BTW - Windows sound has 3 devices
- Soundcard - Sigmatel
- Bluetooth Audio
- Highqualit Bluetooth Audio

Tried all possible selections. No results.

From reading threads on other sites the slightly older [5.0.1.801] Wildcomm stack is a bit better than the newest build [5.0.1.802] when it comes to compatibility.

http://ftp.us.dell.com/network/R115564.EXE

Latest Toshiba Bluetooth stack & firmware has been uploaded to Dell's ftp server today...

FWIW: Looks like the firmware is the same version as the previous release: http://support.dell.com/support/down...&fileid=147257

BTW - I found a solution to this problem. I hate WAITING on things. Now, the HS was set up for auto connect. So as soon as I flip it open it auto connects. The problem was to USE it with the voice.

Now after your posting this I woud CLICK on the laptop to disconnect and then reconnect.. and then wait those 4 beeps. FUN ISNT IT.

I found a work around . As soon as I open it and place it on my ear it connected. BUT AT THE MOMENT I STILL DONT HAVE AUDIO. (in Toshiba it would switch audio as soon as HS was open and on my ear). Here its better.. All I do after this is PRESS THE BUTTON on the HS. BOOM!

It makes that BELUP sound and I'm in . Wooo Hoo.

PS: Thanks for the info. I hope this helps some other people who dont like to wait.

Thanks. I had installed this back in November when it came out. With the Firmware upgrade and the patched WIDCOMM 5.0 life... its PERFECT.. almost

new FW + WIDCOMM is nice, but I get a lot of lag with my headset. Sounds breaks up and a BT mouse is useless when using the headset.

Pretty good and workable, but not what I envisioned.

Just wanted to say a big thanks to KAROLOYDI for making this step by step guide...I tried for an hour on my own, logitech's support being unhelpful...at first I was skeptical that it would seeing how I did almost the same thing...but now I'm running my MX1000 BT mouse on the Dell internal bluetooth and the SetPoint software recognises my mouse...

if you go through the steps methodically, it will work

thanks again

Anyone success with MX900 ? me can't (
I followed step by step this guide, but setpoint 2.47 does not provide customized btn function when paired with TM350. I tried Widcomm 5.0.801 and 5.0.802.

you have to use the one that is linked in this guide along with a patch...I tried what you said and had the same result...follow the guide exactly along with the software provided and it will work

oh yeah...you have to use the SetPoint that came with your mouse from the CD, then update it...don't use the one off logitech's website...it won't work

I installed widcomm v5.0.1.802 (link in first page), and patched. I bought a refurb mx900, so i don't have original CD. I downloaded both setpoint 2.22 and 2.47, which none works (paired with TM350 ok, but customized function is not)
Could you please do a favor for me , please send your setpoint to trtheanh at gmail dot com.
Or if you have emule/shareaza, please send me a URI/magnet.
Thank you very much.

Thank greenshadow for sending your setpoint to me.
But it doesn't work

Let me describe what i have done:
1) Uninstall widcomm and setpoint, delete their folders in Program Files, delete their registries as well.

2) Restart

3) Press cancel when Winxp recognize Dell TM350. Because i had renamed MS bluetooth INF, TM350 is inactived.

4) Download widcomm 5.0.1.802 + patch from links in sticky first page. Extract, overwrite patch files to original setpoint folder. Then install widcomm.

5) Restart. After restart, plug in Logitech hub.

6) Run setpoint downloading from greenshadow. It shows a dialog say: Connect device to hub. There are 3 choices:
  • Retry scanning
  • Skip
  • Cancel

7) It keeps showing that stupid dialog if i press rescan (i tried pressing Connect btn on mouse, on hub, on both).
If i press skip, setpoint continue to install.

8) restart. Setpoint show options for my MX900 (pairing with logitech hub). I press Update btn on Setpoint dialog. Download. Install update.

9) Restart again, i remove logitech hub beforce winxp loading

10) Mouse is inactive unless i request widcomm to scan, then connect to MX900.

11) At that time setpoint show no option at all

12) If i replug logitech hub, press connect to let mx900 pair with logitech hub, setpoint immediately shows a tab for mx900

It seems that only MX1000 BT can run without logitech hub. Does anybody using MX900 agree with me ?
Am i missing any steps ?

Has anyone tried using the Microsoft Drivers for the BT Radio? That's what I was doing but ran into a problem today. MY BT devices seeme to of went away for no apparant reason.

Do you have to use the Toshiba Drivers for it to work right? All I have is a BT mouse, the V270 and I can't get Setpoint to install when I try the Toshiba drivers. (which I did try right after reinstall of Windows but Logitech didnt like them so I got the MS ones working... well at least I did.)
I need some help. Not to ask a dumb question but what exacty is this guide geared towards? It's it for a certain BT issue or just BT drivers in general? if I understand right, people are saying use these Widcomm drivers over the Microsoft, Toshiba, OR Dell Drivers?

My BT is not working consitantly. I just turned my computer on today and my mouse isnt working, last night it was. All I'm using is the MS default drivers and I have set point installed. My mouse is the V270. What can I do to get mine to work right?

Is going through all those steps to get the widcomm drivers installed nessacary? I dont have a logitech hub since I got the V270 so what do I do at that step?

Thanks!

Alright...your step 6, after you install SetPoint and restart, do not unplug the Logitech Hub until the restart has finished. Once your comp finishes restarting, it shouldn't ask you anything about scanning for bluetooth devices...if it does, just close the window...

THEN, unplug the Logitech Hub. Now go to SetPoint software, click on the Tools tab, then choose the bluetooth options (bluetooth Icon). In that screen you see a button "connect device". Your mouse should now be detected (of course you put your mouse in autodiscovery mode).

that's how I did it on my comp and it worked... give it another try

What icon did you mean ? Because i see no bluetooth icon on setpoint dialog

The original poster wrote a guide on how to use logitech mx1000 bluetooth mouse without logitech hub.

Dell uses Toshiba stack for our inspiron notebook
Most people recommend using widcomm because it gives best compatible with bluetooth peripherals. And i agree with that opinion

We must go through those steps for a simple task because of logitech 's . Setpoint still refuse to recognize my mx900

For your problem, i would like to suggest:
1) Replace battery
2) Install widcomm instead of MS's, v5.0.1.801, 5.0.1.802 seems to be best one. I tried 5.0.1.1200, but it frequently lost connection.
