SERIOUS Ferrari 4000 Problem.

Thread Starter
As some of you may already know my screen has been flickering since purchase. Now, after months, it has gone completely black. A few times while using it the screen would flash off, but then return, usually tapping the back of the screen would resolve the problem. Now the only thing I can do is to hit the back of the screen, where the light only returns for like 1/10 of a second. I really need this laptop and cannot afford the time to send it to Acer Repair. If anyone knows any way to detach the lcd so I can attempt to fix it please help. I am using an external monitor right now, and after 5 minutes of guessing where the firefox page was, finally dragged it over. Please Help.

In this thread you can find a link to the Ferrari 4005 service manual. That should help you taking the laptop apart.

Chakz,
I've had to send my Ferrari to Acer for service twice (for a problem which I'll soon be posting about), and I have to tell you that they are nothing if not fast. Both times I have gotten it back within a week. The first time it took five days and the second time it took six days. In the end, it might not be a bad idea to bite the bullet and go ahead and get it taken care of.

It sounds like a fried power inverter, I had a similar problem with a Compaq Armada M700.
