So my desktop is portable too, then. As long as I have a car.

What?

hahaha. That's true. You can't carry around your desktop like a suitcase though, so it's alittle more convenient in that sense :P

I can definitely see myself buying one. Rest assured all you naysayers - if DELL did not think there was a market for such a device they would not be wasting time designing it. I am quite sure their market research department is well funded. . . .

If you are referring to the 20" concept laptop Dell showed at CES, then that thing is hideous. I wouldn't buy it. Its too big, bulky, and fugly (f'ng ugly).

That's not a laptop...it's a luggable desktop! I honestly think the only market would be for those people who give presentations constantly on the road in austere locations (read: places where there isn't a projector hookup).

Yeah but Dell should have used a smaller form factor. They could have used the 9300/XPS2 build but used a 20" widescreen instead of 17". I don't understand who designed that horrible looking laptop.

thanks somms

You all know it's only concept and won't be released anytime soon.........right...??

I predict that it won't be released at all.
Naysayers tell me that 17 inch is too big, let alone 20!
I'm fine with the portability of the 9300, so I have to carry a bit more...but the overall performance increase is very significant, and I can still fit it in a bag...
I'm not an obsessed gamer, but when I play, I better have at least decent graphics. With a 9300, for me a desktop has become a thing of the past.
Back on topic, 17 is still acceptable, 20 is ludicrous!
Make the projector portable, don't take that element away from the laptop...

Good catch Somms.

I agree that DELL will most certainly bring the XPS Mobile Concept market. If DELL was unsure they would not have shown it off at CES and most certainly would not have setup a separate forum for related discussions.

Oh, so this is how Dell plans on putting SLI or Crossfire into a portable format...

That's a refreshing concept, but I'd rather have a desktop and a flatpanel. I'm not sure if that's any easier to lug around than a desktop and flatpanel if I was, say, driving over to my friend's house for some gaming.
